Strategic Priority #1: Address the threats to the historical records of women religious resulting from community closures, mergers, and changing demographics

  • Request meetings with leadership of LCWR and CMSWR to discuss the scope of the threat to historical records and possible actions (2016)
  • Prepare case studies of final disposition of records of closed communities for internal use and study (2016)
  • Apply for an NEH Humanities Collections and Reference Resources Foundations Grant to facilitate the creation of an ACWR-sponsored digital archives of women religious
  • Prepare a white paper that investigates the possibility of ACWR developing a collecting repository for the records of closed communities (2017-2018)

Strategic Priority #2: Promote and provide educational opportunities for members beyond the ACWR triennial meeting

  • Reactivate the mentoring program (2016-2017)
  • Maintain a list or calendar of educational opportunities outside of AWCR on the website or through the membership email list (2016-2018)
  • Investigate the production of webinars for ACWR members (2017)
  • Create an online forum for members’ Q&A on the Website (2016-2017)

Strategic Priority #3: Create a foundation for the stewardship of digital collections and electronic records among our members

  • Compile a list of questions for consideration before developing digital collections and/ or committing to collecting electronic records (2017-2018)
  • Develop talking points for members to use in educating community leadership and records creators about electronic records (2017-2018)
  • Sponsor a Digital POWRR workshop (or other electronic records / digital archives workshop) for members (2017-2018)

Strategic Priority #4: Engage the ACWR membership

  • Develop a protocol for board contact with new members to ensure that each new member is personally welcomed by a board member (2016)
  • Reactivate the nominating committee (2016-2017)
  • Write newsletter article about board positions and responsibilities to inform membership about leadership opportunities (2016-2017)
  • Pilot “Dear Big Sister” column for newsletter and website to educate lay archivists about women’s religious communities and Catholic sisters and nuns (2016)
